Alexandra (“Alex”) Bengston joined Custom House with more than a decade of experience in insurance, liability mitigation, and contractual risk transfer. Alex’s wide array of industry experiences include positions as: a commercial business underwriter in property and casualty coverage at Travelers Insurance; a complex civil litigation attorney, representing clients in insurance claims, negligence, premises liability, and employment discrimination matters; and as a Risk Management Consultant at national insurance and risk advisory firm.

As a Risk Management Consultant, Alex advises real estate investors, hospitality portfolios, developers, and institutional clients on a range of strategic risk-related matters, including contractual language, risk exposure analysis, insurance program placement, and claims strategy. Her expertise includes reviewing complex insurance programs, drafting tailored indemnification and hold harmless provisions, and coordinating closely with clients to anticipate and manage emerging risks. With a deep understanding of both legal and operational risk, Alex brings an interdisciplinary approach to her practice, supporting clients through all stages of the project lifecycle, from pre-acquisition due diligence and policy procurement to claims resolution and litigation oversight.

Alex’s cross-functional experience across law, insurance, and risk management consulting enables her to see the whole picture when advising clients, delivering practical, forward-thinking guidance to clients operating in high-risk industries, including real estate, hospitality, construction, and institutional asset management.
